Caprica

Memories flooded back to him. Pain!!! A knife cutting through his brain.

“Frak her”, the humane who killed him. These were his thoughts.

“Frak her!!”

Memories of flying through deep space, jumping from sector to sector.

Eating. Firing at the humane colonials…

He was a Cylon. A Cylon Raider to be precise. He lived to fly in space, to fulfill the missions he was asked to do. To kill the persons by firing both established and nuclear missiles at them.

Until she came and shot him. He fell through the atmosphere of this rugged moon. He pulled through the descent, but she found him, “frak her!” She killed him – knifed his brain. Half-dead she rode him like an animal, used him to go to the world of Caprica…

He vowed revenge. On her. On the other humans. His hatred had no limits now. He would learn from this death. He had just had his conciousness downloaded into a new body. He would be a “new” Cylon Raider, but he would work towards his vendetta.

He hid in an asteroid belt, waiting for an unsuspecting humane Viper pilot to arrive… who he then killed without pity. He started out to do kamikaze style attacks and passed away a few times again too. Until the day the Resurrection Ship was destroyed, which made him even more vicious. He had to obliterate the humans, he would not rest until this happened. And he would wait until the day he would encounter her again.

4Now to talk about what’s actually on the DVDs, rather than SyFy’s’ decision to cancel….
By Scott D. Ash
Since this product was declared there have been a good deal of reviews posted here that have nothing, NOTHING, to do with the actual DVD set. While I share in the usual anger at SyFy for having canceled Caprica, I thought it best to actually wait until the DVD set arrived before making any judgment and limit that to what was offered. Now, after having watched all three DVDs in the set (down one from the four-set Season 1.0), it’s time to open this may o’ worms and put out my opinion.

Caprica Season 1.5 includes all nine of the final episodes, those aired in October of this year and the remaining five that SyFy has chosen to air in toto on 5 January, coinciding with ABC’s broadcast of “V”. Like the basi set, these sequences were well written, well executed, and brilliantly acted by the astounding ensemble cast brought into the project. Additionally, there were galore more “Easter eggs” for BSG fans, including the roots of “toaster,” “skin job,” and which of Admiral Adama’s parents had the farm with the fox problem brought up in BSG Season four. These sequences also delved further into Tauron culture and the origins of the Adama family itself in “The Dirteaters,” arguably the best episode of the series.

However, there were problems. Aside from the fifteen-second scene in a so-far unaired episode where somebody in the props section forgot to cover the British Columbia license plate on a nearby parked car, there were far less video blogs and deleted scenes equated to the initial set. This either means video blogs weren’t invented and the sequences weren’t hacked up too much in editing or Universal wanted to get this product out as speedily as possible and overlooked perhaps a heap of more interesting stuff regarding Caprica. Maybe all of that was covered in the original set, I don’t know. I just felt that there could have been more included in this current set; after all, it cost the same as the first.

Still, after observing them I have to agree with a good deal of viewers here and on Facebook that the last five sequences were Caprica’s best. The final episode, “Apotheosis,” ended with what could be seen as both a wrap-up of the series and a teaser for what was supposed to come. If only SyFy had stuck to it is science-fiction origins and not gone after the redneck viewer with incessant “ghost-hunting” and “professional wrestling” programs we may have seen Caprica come into it is own. Alas, corporate myopia kills another arguably outstanding show.

5Caprica the Evolution of Battlestar Galatica Begins
By Paris in Winter
There are protest taking place with the deliverance of apples to the network heads who apparently have no minds. Caprica is a outstanding show concerning the evolution of how we arrive in the world of Battle Star Galactica which was a huge success. The sets are awful as the 12 colonies get explored along with the feud amid Caprica and Turron. How will man use artificial intelligence in robotics and virtual reality? For a lot of Earthlings of today this may seem very unlikely, but in the near future we will be asking ourselves what ethics and usage do we utilize to these upcoming sciences.

You will seldom find a better acted series. My favored actor on the show is Eric Stolz, but likewise Alessandra Torresani and Lucy Rand (from Kyle XY) are outstanding. The rest of the cast are likewise outstanding, the characters are well invented including a fixed role for James Marsters (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel).

Caprica does make you think in regards to the conflicts of religion, cyber terrorism and culture. Caprica does make us think in regards to poly relationships, sexual fantasy, life after death through transference to the virtual world and/or the cybernetic world. Perhaps too few of the humane race are ready to think in more than two dimensions. If you are a person who has an progressed mind set I give hope or courage to you to add your review, to contact SyFy, to contact NBC/Universal to save Caprica. If you a person who is tired of mindless tv programming I give hope or courage to you to step up to shows such as Caprica. Open your mind and dare to imagine the future.

5Syfy cancelled a great show … again!
By HP
The storylines keep getting better but Syfy, like galore networks, won’t believe in a show long sufficient to build an audience. I’m dissapointed that it’s been cancelled, but I intend on buying the box sets anyway because I think the cast, creators, and anybody else that worked on the show must be recognized for the great work they have done.
