Vampire Diaries

First of all I have to say that I’ve read most of the books and I kind of liked it. Okay, I’ll admit. The primary time hearing in regards to this series I thought…no not another vampire show…but I tuned in anyways. Just to see what the hype was about. The show started off with a stumble, like any new show, but as the story progressed, I’m so addicted. I never missed an episode, if I did I’d undertake to find it online.I wasn’t a huge fan altho so I wasn’t so freaked out to watch the series.

When I did watch the show I liked it much more than the books. OH YES I DID. Why? Because of Elena. I didn’t like that reputation in the book at all! A blond haired, blue eyed cheerleader who is the most popular girl of the school and each boy wants to go out with her? Not for me. So far that was better than the book. For me, anyway. I do comprehend though, those who didn’t like the series for not being a good adaption of the books, I’ve been there. But don’t forget it is supposed to be BASED on the novel. I didn’t care when it comes to older actors playing younger roles, or that most of them are pretty.

The storyline sucked me in from the start. It’s not easy to do that. The characters are fabricating nicely, in particular taking into account it’s a new show and it in general takes time for the cast to gel. Vampire shows are the rage right now and this one takes on a bit of a twist. The plot holds the general school-age challenges and weaves in supernatural elements. My only complaint (as with most shows) is that they always hire exceedingly skinny actresses, once again perpetuating the body effigy issues that face a lot of our young people. How in regards to hiring a lead actress who doesn’t vanish when she turns sideways? Other than that frequent issue, the show is very entertaining.

It likewise seems like they did a good occupation scoring the pilot episode as well. They chose good new actors and the way they set the story up works very well. They establish the background for the main reputation as well as galore of the background for the vampire. It likewise establishes the villain of season one. So far the pilot seems like a great start out to a outstanding show.

And sure, it’s easy to compare this to twilight. I employed to be a fan of Twilight. Yeah, those days are over. Compared to the movie, TVD has better graphics, better plot, better characters and sooo much more alchemy amid the two leads. Twilight makes me cringe just thinking with regards to it…

But don’t be fooled. If you’re expecting another program to buy into the hype surrounding vampires, you’re way off. So off, you’re in another state. The Vampire Diaries started off that way though. But with time, and a few episodes, it went places that no other vampire show/movie has gone before. What happens when a whole town knows with regards to vampires, and has done for centuries? It’s an interesting premise, and a good place to begin a season, and soon the show delves into not just a girl’s kinship with a vampire and his brother, but a whole town’s history. To say this is the best scripted program on television is being bold, but I only say it because it is the truth.

While Glee runs away with the ratings, The Vampire Diaries is in all probability the best CW show made so far. And it’s thanks to Kevin Williamson, who wrote the Scream trilogy, and Dawson’s Creek. He returns to TV land in top form here, weaving each character’s story around another, including tiny hints for future seasons, until you plainly can’t predict what happens next. Certainly the latter half of season 1 is where it enters magnificent territory, but in saying that, the original half is unquestionably worth observing but seems more tame compared. The second half seems to know what it wants to be and goes there, adding rather scary scenarios and gruesome effects. This is probably the scariest program on the box, and unquestionably the most R ranked in CW/WB history. Not to mention, has the best twists imaginable! If you’re expecting a clichéd romantic vampire world, go and watch Twilight. This is genuinely better than True Blood and Twilight combined.

Simply, The Vampire diaries is amazing, and if you love these types of shows, watch it! And stick with it. Sure it’s one of those teenage love things, but the supernatural quality makes it even better!

3Could have been better
By ldimock
Having just finished The Vampire Diaries: The Return: Midnight. I found that it was lackluster in comparison to the former “The Return” books, exceptionally Shadows Souls. Without creating too much of a spoiler, the plot twists did not seem produced sufficient and resolved the issues in way too simple and easy a way. The whole side storyline with Meredith seemed ill-constructed and nonsensical, and was not fleshed out closely sufficient to seem like more than a poorly constructed anime. As far as the plot line with Damon getting humane from the prior book, L.J. Smith could have done a LOT more with it, rather of settling it speedily and progressing what seemed like “business as usual” a quarter of the way into the book. The whole ordeal with him speaking to the “Princess” was cheesy at best.

As a whole, I was disappointed with this book, having such high expected values from Shadow Souls. Will I be reading the next one when it comes out? Yes, but only because it seems like a shame to leave it on a cliffhanger after so much of a time investment reading all the other books.

2Diappointing
By Ashley
I have read all of the Vampire Diaries books, as well as a great deal of of LJ Smith’s other books. I have been disappointed with The Return trilogy as a whole, but this queer book was just infuriating. The ending was so irritating I almost threw the book.

The whole Meredith side plot was not necessitated and seemed to be there only to add length to the book. The same thing with Elena and Bonnie’s out of body experience.

As the story wrapped up, everything came too easy. If they necessitated something, they found it in Mrs. Flowers’s house without even having to search for it (a kiln in the backyard?). Elena’s wings “happened” to work at just the right time.

Whoever edited this book will have to be fired. It read like a basi draft from an inexperienced writer. There were various grammatical faults that any good editor would have caught. Yes, there are always a few in a book, but there were more than a few in Midnight. The overuse of exclamation points made the already unbelievable story seem melodramatic.

Like all of the Return trilogy, this book continued to undermine the vampire lore that LJ Smith expended so much time creating in the initial few books. How may Damon (as a human) be capable to tell by Elena’s tears she was still a maiden? Plus, in the introductory assorted books, it said that sharing blood was as far as a vampire could go, so if Elena was loyal to Stefan, she still had to be a maiden.

The characters transformed from wonderful, well-written, believable characters, into flat, boring, one-dimensional stereotypes. Elena came off as flighty, selfish, and stupid, a far cry from the firstborn Elena Gilbert. She seemed more like Katherine than Elena.

I have read and read and read the former books in the series, but I doubt I’ll ever pick up Midnight again.

3Some good, galore bad….
By Henslb24
I have read all of the Vampire Diaries books and was anxiously awaiting this one as well. I am a big Damon fan. I feel that he has a lot more charisma than Stephan. To me, Stephan is boring. That being said, I plainly want Damon and Elena together. Unfortunately, I do not comprehend why the author finds it ok to make Elena find it worthy of acceptance or satisfactory to have both Damon and Stephan. She needs to choose. The fact that she doesn’t and seems to think she may have them both makes her seem so selfish and unlikeable to me. Many good stories implicate heartbreak, and I know a great deal of of you are Stephan fans, but on occasion the good guy doesn’t get the girl. I feel like this book was just “ok.” It kept my attention sufficient to get me to the end, where I ought to admit, I cried like a little girl. I won’t disclose what happens to those who haven’t read it. However, I will say I am very unhappy with the ending. It gives this HUGE cliffhanger. I know LJ Smith will no longer be writing any Vampire Diaries books, but I do hope that an individual proceeds to tie up the loose ends. The ending of this book gave no clarification as to what is going to take place next and it leaves all of the characters in limbo. If you think there will be a solid ending, guess again.
